Domain not leading to home page

In the beginning of the Summer I decided to transfer from wordpress.com to wordpress.org and use Blue Host to host my site. I didn’t want to pay $360+/ year for a wordpress.com site and still have limited customization options.

My first mistake was developing two sites at the same time. That lead to a number of errors and I eventually had to delete both and start from scratch. I decided to focus on completing the site for my current business and once that was done, begin the one for my new business.

My website was finally done enough to go public, and I had it go live earlier this week. Unfortunately, my domain is not working. It was my understanding that if I parked my original domain (haveaircustoms.com), it would lead to my website and that that would be the domain viewers saw.

Instead, it links to a page that says “Index of /” and has links that say “Name” “Last modified” “Size” and “Description”. A final link says “haveaircustoms/” and if you are lucky enough to click that link, THEN you are taken to my website.

Additionally, the websites domain is displaying:
https://jdl.vhz.mybluehost.me/haveaircustoms/

instead of:
haveaircustoms.com

I need to get this figured out ASAP because now my website has disappeared from search engines and used to be the #1 result (took 7 years).

On a side note, I’m also having trouble logging into my cPanel from Bluehost. Not asking for help solving that, just wondering if that’s related?

Thanks!

Deleted hacked site via c panel, now cannot log in to clean WordPress

Hiya.
Wordpress site was hacked ~Sept. 26, suspended by host (Bluehost).
Wanted to start over anyway with same URL, so deleted all files from c panel.
Contacted host, who activated URL, but now cannot log into http://kendley.com/wp-admin. Right now, I get “Your server is running PHP version 5.2.17 but WordPress 5.2.3 requires at least 5.6.20.”, an improvement over the 404 I got earlier this morning.

All I want to do is get into admin, delete what is there, and start over.

Any help appreciated.

Create a test site without staging

Okay, I’ll try to explain this the best I can.

So last fall I wanted to redesign my blog [ redundant link removed ]. In order to tinker with Customize for a while before making live changes, I created a test site. But the thing is, I don’t remember how. I swear I don’t remember anything about staging. I didn’t make a staging site. I ended up with the URL /test-site, which I can access and use super easy. It doesn’t ask me to log in again, it’s not in staging mode. At that URL I can customize and design the site like I would the real one, except the changes are only to that test url, it doesn’t affect the real site at all. It’s like a duplicate of the real site but acts like a completely separate one. It says Coming Soon Active in the admin bar at the top of the page, so I believe anyone who stumbles onto it would see a coming soon page.

All I want is to have the same kind of test site for my addon domain, if possible. Since I don’t remember how I made the first one and google search results were all about staging, I chatted with Bluehost reps. They made me staging sites in safe mode. When I told them I didn’t want a staging site and tried to explain what I wanted, they had no idea what I was talking about. So I wondered if maybe it was a problem for WordPress rather than Bluehost.

Does anyone have any idea what I’m describing or how to help me?

Bluehost DNS issues

Followed the advice on here along with some good reviews and went with BlueHost hosting for my site neofps.com. For the past 2 months I’ve been getting multiple outages totalling from a few minutes up to almost an hour every single day. I’ve tried their web support and twitter support and the most I’ve got from them is “we have a known DNS issue and our engineers are working to resolve it as soon as possible”. Would love some advice including how to move this forwards or what other options I have.

For info the site comes up with an ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED error in chrome and firefox, and INET_E_RESOURCE_NOT_FOUND in edge. The same goes for the cPanel for the server. I’m not experienced with web hosting / development so not sure what I can do to identify or fix the problem

Point my domain to Bluehost WordPress

Hello!

I have a problem setting up my first website with a domain name of my choice, let us call it IwantToUse.se, at Bluehost’s WordPress. So this is a configuration problem.

I have my domain name I want to use at my domain host loopia.se.
This domain name is called IwantToUse.se.
I want to use IwantToUse.se for a WordPress website I build from Bluehost’s WordPress Dashboard.
I can not transfer IwantToUse.se to Bluehost because Bluehost does not allow .se-ending domain names to be transferred.

Today I can not even access (“error: No result status: fail”) my WordPress Dashbord from Bluehost (https://my.bluehost.com/hosting/app/#/).
I could not access after I changed “Site Address (URL)” to IwantToUse.se and hence made it differ from “Wordpress Adress (URL)”’s which a believe was box1111.temp/domains/~MySite/page-name. This change was made from the Bluehost’s WordPress Dashbord under Settings>General. Since I can not access my Dashbord at all, I can not undo this change.

But right before my dashboard stopped working I had a nonsense generic address something like box1111.temp/domains/~MySite/page-name assigned by Bluehost whenever I wanted to view my homepage from the dashboard.

My primary domain at Bluehost is called MyPrimaryDomain.se. I bought this domain at loopia.se, so I have it also there.

How do I access my Dashboard again?
How can I use my domain hosted by loopia.se IwantToUse.se to be the address for my website build from Bluehost’s WordPress?

I am not sure if the DNS-editor at loopia.se should point to Bluehost or if it is the other way around.
I tried various things like changing my name servers at loopia.se to ns1.bluehost.com and ns2.bluehost.com.
I also did an A-point at loopia.se’s DNS-editor to an IP-address found under “Points to” where the Host Record is @ in the DNS Zone Editor at Bluehost for my domain MyPrimaryDomain.se. That is, at Bluehost>Domains>Zone Editor I can only select my domain MyPrimaryDomain.se. And there under the Zone File Records I could find the IP-address (under Points to) at the line where Host Record is @. So at loopia.se I tried to do an A-point to this IP-address.

Maybe I can make MyPrimaryDomain.se at loopia work with Bluehost’s MyPrimaryDomain.se and in loopia.se redirect it to IwantToUse.se since I have MyPrimaryDomain.se both loopia.se and also at Bluehost as my primary (and only) domain?

Lost Super Admin Access

I am a new volunteer trying to update the Africa Bridge website. Our organization has had some turn over and we no longer have Super Admin access to our WordPress site. We are using BlueHost. They are also unable to authenticate us so we are dead in the water. We want to keep using the WordPress blog, but redirect the rest of the site to a new site created through Aplos, our fundraising software. Since we can’t get to settings we can’t do anything about the URL via subdomain. When people click on https://africabridge.org/ we want them to go here: https://africabridge.aplos.org/ Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Migrate to Subfolder on Bluehost

Hi there! I am helping someone migrate their site to Bluehost. However, they have a few sites in their public_html directory, including their primary site in the root.

So basically, it looks like this

public_html
+ site_a_folder
+ site_i_want_to_migrate
+ wp-content-of-primary-site
– primary-site-index.php

I want to migrate to one of those particular folders without overwriting anything in the root. Is that possible?

*SOLVED* I Can’t Log into My Site Through WordPress, Only Through BlueHost!

I was having a HELL of a time trying to log in to my site through the WordPress log in page so I went searching Google about how to do it.

I found a thread in this support section of WordPress.org which showed up in the results. I read the replies and they all seemed to be written by SuperGeek coders and were way to complicated for me.

I actually figured out a lot easier way to get it done so I thought I’d drop it in here for anyone who might be having similar frustrations with BlueHost trying to hold you hostage! (They’re not actually that bad.)

So, what to do;

1) Log into your BlueHost account as normal.

2) Log into your website via either the “WORDPRESS” button on the BlueHost Homepage:

– OR –

Through the “My Sites” tab and hovering over your website and clicking the “Log into WordPress” button.

3) Then when you are in the WordPress Dashboard for your website, hover your cursor over the “Howdy, {username}” message in the top right hand corner of the page which brings a drop down menu.

4) In the drop down menu click on the “Edit My Profile” selection.

5) Scrolling down that page there is a selection titled, “Account Management”, with a sub-heading, “New Password”, and a button, “Generate Password”. Click the “Generate Password”, button.

6) When you click the “Generate Password”, button…..BE CAREFUL NOT TO CONTINUE. You must copy the generated password and copy it somewhere for safekeeping.

7) Once you have copied that new password and recorded it somewhere safe for future reference, scroll to the bottom of the page and click the, “Update Profile”, button.

AND VIOLA! You can now log in through both BlueHost AND the WordPress Admin page (wp-admin).

Site entirely broken

Hey guys,

So I recently purchased a WordPress website and transferred the domain over to Bluehost from whatever host the previous owner had.

The site was working great for about a week, and my domain transfer completed yesterday, but today there was an error.

I believe it was a conflict with an SSL plugin that was installed, but my site was blocked by all browsers for having HSTS but not being able to validate the certificate. I think in the “settings” section in my admin dashboard the site URL wasn’t set to https, but instead http.

Regardless, I couldn’t access my site or admin dashboard at all, no matter what I did.

Then, for some reason, it started showing that there was no index.php. I copied over the index.php from one of my other sites, and now I’m getting a 500 error on my site. Nothing is loading at all.

I’ve contacted the previous owner to try and set up a transferring of site files over to Bluehost (I neglected to do that earlier), because as it stands now I can’t access any site files since I don’t have access to them. That means no uninstalling of the problem plugin(s).

Is there anything else I can do? I’ve been struggling to find someone that had a similar problem.

Thanks so much

The website is thenaturetrail.com, by the way.

I was attempting to restore a site using Updraft, but it seemed to hang (no error message, just went unresponsive). I’m new to BlueHost as I used to run my own server. Bluehost said something to the effect that Updraft does not work on their sites. Is this true, or are they just trying to sell another monthly subscription?

Not AAble to Login

Hello,

I am not able to login into my website. When I go to mywebsite.com/wp-admin, I get the error message: requested URL was not found on this server.

I recently re-upped my hosting and found they had deleted my files, and I am hoping I can still access via wordpress.org. I’m not sure why I can’t access the login page, as my url and hosting are now up-to-date.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ANY ADVICE!

Changed WordPress Address and Site URL, now my webpage can’t be accessed.

Hello, I wanted to change the name and domain of my site, so I changed my wordpress address URL and site URL from [originalname.net] to [newname.com.] However, after saving the changes, the page refreshed and displayed the error: ‘the site can’t be reached’ and that ‘[newname.com’s] server IP address can’t be found.’ I use BlueHost as my web host, and I think the problem is that the domain has remained unchanged in BlueHost and therefore my page is broken (correct me if I’m wrong). However, I can’t figure out how to change my domain from BlueHost; but at this point, I just want my old WordPress URL and site URL back so that I can get my website back. (Additionally, I could no longer access the WordPress administrative page and change the URLs back to [oldname.net]) Help would be greatly appreciated since I would hate to have lost all my work for this mistake. Thank you.

Bluehost Staging Area – How to Sync Content

Hi,

I recently created a staging website via Bluehost in order to trial a new theme.

This was a few months ago and so my live site has been updated with new blog posts. I would like to sync this new content to the staging website so I can see a more up-to-date view of what the new theme design would look like. Is this possible? I am really struggling with Bluehost support who do not seem to understand my query.

My next question is: when I eventually decide to deploy the new theme, how can I do this without overwriting all the new content that has been uploaded since I created the staging website?

Is there a way to migrate the theme/design to the production site and keep the content on the production site unchanged?

Fonts different on different browsers

If you look at my website on the Safari browser, the fonts throughout the site are as they were when I was building the site. However, on Chrome and Firefox the fonts are different! Even more confusingly the fonts are ok when I view the website on a chrome browser from a different computer.

The main thing that changed recently was I changed the sites name servers to Bluehost. Presumably that’s what causing the issue but I don’t know. I am using the Entrepreneur theme and a complete beginner at web development.

500 internall server error when I am (loged in admin)

Hello there,
I have been having 500 internal server error for about 3 months. nowadays it is occurring more often. I am so tired of it and cannot solve it.:

deactivated all the plugin ( it worked fine)
then I started activating one by one, and I noticed that I only have like 3 plugin left that my theme requires. when I kept the plugin activated I get the 500 internal server error, and it log me out ( admin) then I started browsing the site while I am not loged in and it works fine.

My observation of this tells me that when I log in as the admin I have the error, when I log out the error goes away.

does anyone have an idea on how to solve this?

thank you for the support.

Staging with Bluehost – What Migrates Over?

$

I’ve set up a staging site through WordPress (it’s a feature offered by my hosting site, Bluehost, via WPress.) I’m working on making massive changes through the staging site (it’s a direct copy of my currently live site) with the goal of deploying them to my live site. MY QUESTION: what exactly translates from staging to my live site after deploying the changes I make in staging? If I change the theme and add new posts and pages, will those show up when I push staging to my live site? Does the staging site effectively take over my old site so that every little thing I have on my staging site BECOMES my live site?

My staging site URL is showing www.mysite.com/staging/1234 (and anything I create in staging will be www.mysite.com/staging/1234/post-name-here). I don’t understand how migration will eventually work….does WordPress just recreate these pages on my live site without the “staging/1234” part of the URL?

lost access to wordpress on site

Hi
I’m currently in the process of creating the site http://www.whisper2roar.org.uk.
Today I changed the hosting page (bluehost.com) url from the default address http://box5119.temp.domains/~whispfj5 to the domain address and back again once I noticed that the page I published didn’t show. Now I’m stuck with a holding page for the domain register company from which the domain was purchased, with no access to wordpress panel which I had previously, the option to login doesn’t come up and if I try and do it via the blueshost site I get the same image advertising 123 Reg.

I’d appreciate some help accessing my wordpress admin panel.
Thanks,
d

Hi,

I have Cloudflare CDN enabled in the ‘basic’ mode through my Bluehost dashboard. When i configured WP Fastest cache it can see i am using Cloudflare and asks me to enable it in the plugin through the CDN tab.

As i am already using Cloudflare through Bluehost do i need to configure it manually and set the name servers, etc. and then set it up and use it through the plugin for the best results or can i just ignore this message?

Thanks in advance
Mike
